My sister in Michigan is very ill and financially destitute. She has started the process of applying for state and federal aid. We sent her some money to help her make it until she can get this help. Within the past 2 days, one of her creditors got the bank to send them all of the money she had left ($800). When she talked to the bank, she was told that the credit card company sued her, got some kind of judgment, and had the right to do this, and that the bank had no choice but to send them the money. Is this true? Is it legal? Does her personal circumstances change anything? What will happen when she starts to get monetary aid?

I currently have conditional residency, and in a few months, I will be able to apply for permanent residency or citizenship since I have been married to my wife for 3 years. My question is, how would a minor offense affect this?

My grandparents took conservatorship over me when my birth mother died when I was 3 months old. They used money left to me from my birth mother's death for their own house when I was 3 years old. I was not fully informed of all the details when I turned 18 and ended the conservatorship. Now, at 32, I discovered issues with the conservatorship, including the courts not pursuing annual records until I was 11, my grandparents not repaying the money with interest as contracted, and the lawyer drafting but not legally submitting a mortgage and promissory note. Can I pursue legal action given these new discoveries?

After a separation agreement has been signed, can a wife re-work the agreement? She is threatening to take my entire paycheck, yet she wrote and signed the agreement just like I did. We have joint custody of children, I pay health insurance for her, both our kids, and her biological child from a previous marriage. I also pay some home utilities per our agreement. Besides adhering to the separation agreement, is there anything else I should be doing to protect myself?

I recently bought a home in New Hampshire and live with my girlfriend, her children, and my own children. We have been back together for 2 years after a 1-year breakup. I have paid for everything, including the mortgage, loan, and household bills, while she contributes nothing and has no job. We have never been married. I want to know if she can claim any rights to my house if we split up, as I have worked hard to save and buy it.

My wife's license was suspended for non-payment of a ticket in Lake George, New York. She then received a ticket in Suffolk County for driving with a suspended license. On the eve of the court date, her father-in-law passed away, and she did not go to court. She has a copy of the death certificate. Can she get another court date? Can she be arrested for not showing up? How can we get another court date? Should we get a lawyer? Thank you for your help.
