My son died by suicide near the end of February, and there was a sexual assault allegation on the same day. They took his phone, and now they are asking for us to sign a form allowing them to extract data from the phone. We don't know if it will incriminate or exonerate him. They say no charges can be pressed because he is dead. Is that true? If there aren't criminal charges, could the family bring a civil suit? We are located in Utah.

Will animal neglect charges affect an ongoing divorce? My girlfriend is going through a divorce and we had a sick dog that no one would take. I lied and said it was a stray, and we got caught. They are now trying to say the dog was neglected. They contacted her ex-husband, who is making it worse for us. Is this likely to affect the divorce hearing? What can we do to prove that we tried to call a bunch of shelters to get them to take her?
