My wife was hit by a truck outside a pedestrian crosswalk. It didn't hit her directly but her shopping cart drove her to the cement sidewalk, giving her a concussion and hurting her hip. After a month of physiotherapy and anxiety from shopping, she received a claim offer for $3,500.00. What should we look at to determine if this amount covers future healthcare needs or if accepting the offer means the end of any further claims?

I'm planning to take a service provider to small claims court in Plano, Texas. Do attorneys typically get involved in these cases, and is it prudent to have an attorney prepare and send a demand letter to make the service provider take the issue more seriously?

I need advice from a lawyer about landlord/tenant rights in San Benito County, CA. After a tenant stole items from my home, admitted to taking one item to the police, and exhibited threatening behavior including gang affiliation, gun possession, drug abuse, and prior violent behavior, I changed my locks and did not allow him back in. I am bi-polar and turning 70 in May, and I feel his actions constitute elder abuse. I was told by the tenant that I could face a $5000 fine or have to pay for his motel bills, and I am unsure if my actions were justified. Additionally, the tenant subjected me to second-hand smoke despite my requests to stop.
