My wife was hospitalized without health insurance and obtained it while still in the hospital, but she passed away before it took effect. I am in New York State and am receiving hospital bills. My wife had no other debt, and her only asset was an IRA that was transferred to me recently. Am I responsible for her bills, and should I begin a payment plan and use her IRA to pay down?
