Over the last twelve months, my ex-husband has been paying bills associated with a credit card from my checking account. My checking account was a joint account, but it has not been for a year when we removed his name from it. I discovered this a week ago, contacted him, and he is paying me back. The total amount taken from me was over $30K. I'm wondering if I can sue for some sort of reparations or if I should press charges. What state this is in? Have you talked to a lawyer yet? Anything else you think the lawyer should know?

I had my name changed in 1977 in Hawaii through the Lieutenant Governor's office, but California won't accept the papers because they weren't signed by a judge. Can I get a birth certificate now that I have used this name for over 30 years? Social Security accepted the name change in 1977.
