We are managing a Hotel Homeless Shelter in NYC for the Mayor's office. There was a gunshot incident, and the police searched the building but found nothing. Now, they are asking for the names of all residents, who are all on parole with criminal backgrounds. Do they need a court order to obtain this information, and can the hotel legally provide these names? Does the same apply to us and the Mayor's office who are overseers?
