We are owed money from an individual who failed to repay us according to a promissory note for a motorhome transaction. We paid cash for a motorhome that was illegally modified, returned it, and signed a promissory note for repayment. The individual made a few payments and then stopped. We have since lost contact with him but recently re-established it. We want to file a claim to collect the remaining amount owed, interest, and possibly punitive damages. What steps should we take, and what are the limitations in small claims court in Colorado?

I received a violation for my front fence being too high in NYC Queens. The fence was built in 2013 and is 6 1/2 feet at its highest point, while the code requires it to be 4 feet. My court date is on June 22nd. What will happen if I don't show up at the court date, and is there a way to win this violation and avoid having to break my fence down?

Is a person with a G4 visa who works full-time in an international organization (receives a salary in Brazil and does not receive a salary in the U.S.) considered a resident for U.S. tax purposes? Despite living in the U.S., she has an SSN and received a stimulus check, which is typically for residents. How should she be classified for tax filing: 1040 or 1040NR?

I own a mobile grooming company. One of my employees was grooming a dog and noticed it had poop on its butt. While attempting to clean it, the dog fell over and had a seizure, dislocating its shoulder. The owner wants me to pay a $2200 vet bill. Am I responsible for this since the groomer didn't cause the seizure or injury?
