We took over a residential lease in January that expires in August, and our current rent is $1700. The new landlord is trying to increase it to $2100 starting August. Isn't there a 5% increase cap, or is that void because we took over a lease? We are in California, specifically Davis.

I am preparing a Motion to Set Aside Default Judgment and have questions about accessing relevant forms and determining the best arguments to include. Specifically, I need to know how to submit differently if I am only going to argue lack of notice and whether I should limit my argument to lack of actual notice or explore more complicated arguments.

I'm dealing with a landlord who isn't fixing essential issues like broken appliances and air conditioning in my rented property, and I'm being charged $1200 a month for a two-bedroom, half-bathroom place. What are my rights and what can I do to address this situation?

I was discriminated against due to my disability at a restaurant. I was asked to leave by the manager after requesting an employee to stop mopping near me, which I feared could cause me to fall. The employee continued to mop near me and mocked me, and the manager did not intervene. I have PTSD and am a fall risk. What are my rights and how do I move forward?
