I have clusters of swollen lymph nodes in multiple locations and a dry cough that have been present for 8 weeks. The cough is mostly in the mornings and at night. I had chest pain and tightness a few weeks ago, which was relieved by a steroid. I finished the steroid a week ago, but the lymph node swelling has not decreased and has even increased. I am concerned it could be something serious that my doctor is missing. I also had mono 2 years ago and have pain in my left shoulder, arm, jaw, neck, and face on and off. I had the flu right after Thanksgiving, which was followed by a high fever for 8 days and bad neck pain. I was put on antibiotics twice, which didn't help much. On December 31st, I started having chest pain, tightness, and shortness of breath, leading to a visit to the ER where I was diagnosed with inflammation in my chest and given a 10-day prednisone prescription. The chest tightness and shortness of breath went away after finishing the prednisone, but the swollen lymph nodes have worsened. The ones on my chest are a little painful sometimes, and the ones on my collarbone have gotten slightly bigger. I had blood work and a chest x-ray done at the ER. What type of conditions could be possible diagnoses for my symptoms, and should I go back to the ER or ask my PCP to schedule an ultrasound?
