I am having brown discharge a week before my period. It started two days ago and has been pretty constant, changing in thickness and amount. The discharge is mucousy, thick, and very dark brown, with no noticeable odor. I am on birth control pills and have been taking them for around 5 years, but this cycle is the first time I switched to a new brand. I threw up a birth control pill due to a stomach bug and did not take another pill. I am sexually active but use condoms. I am worried that I could be pregnant since I missed a pill. What could be causing the brown discharge and should I take a pregnancy test or wait for my scheduled period?
