I am having difficulty getting my pain medication filled as it is out of stock at my pharmacy and their supplier. I am almost out and it will take two days to get ahold of my primary care physician (PCP). I have Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and two failed disc replacement surgeries in my lower back. The pain from RA is joint pain in my hands, shoulders, and knees, and I have had one total knee replacement. The pain is dull, achy, and sometimes sharp. I am currently using Hydromorphone 4mg five times a day, but I was recently taken off my extended-release medication due to insurance denial. I am 54 years old and have a history of thyroid cancer with a total thyroidectomy and iodine radiation in 2010, with no recurrence. What are my options for managing my pain in the interim?
