I had carotid artery surgery last March and have been on Plavix and aspirin since then. I developed blood spots on my body and experienced massive internal bleeding due to a burst blood vessel in my prostate. Emergency surgery was performed to cauterize the source, but the bleeding started again three days ago. My neurosurgeon wants me to stay on Plavix due to a 70 percent clogged carotid artery on the other side of my neck, but I'm concerned about the risk of continued internal bleeding. What alternative medications can I consider?
