I had microfracture surgery in April 2010 on my left medial femur/knee articulating surface. I recovered normally but experienced more pain in a different location in November 2010. A repeat MRI showed osteonecrosis above the surgical site. I took conservative measures but the pain returned in March, much worse. My sports medicine doctor doesn't know the next step. I am 44 years old, otherwise healthy, with no trauma to the knee. Should I have a contrast bone scan or a repeat MRI?
