I had unprotected sex as the insertive partner and started PEP 12 hours after possible exposure. My partner claimed to be HIV-negative, but I started PEP as a precaution. I completed the full 28-day course of PEP without missing any doses. Six weeks post-exposure, I tested negative with a 4th Generation Lab Test. I am awaiting my 12-week post-exposure confirmatory test results and am nervous that they might change. Is it possible for my results to change, and how does the protection of PEP compare to using a condom or PREP?
