Someone smeared laundry detergent (possibly Tide or another blue detergent) all over the outside of my washing machine by mistake. I wiped off some but the rest was inaccessible. It's emitting a powerful odor that is causing eye and respiratory distress. What would be the health effects of prolonged inhalation of this detergent odor, and could it cause pulmonary edema?
