I have a cold and cough that has lasted four weeks. I was scheduled for surgery but it was cancelled, and I was prescribed 7 days of antibiotics which made me feel better. However, the cold is back along with a terrible cough and body aches. My potassium is low and my white count is 3.2. What could be causing this and what should I do?

I just received blood test results showing a Ferritin level of 639. How serious is this, and how soon should I donate blood? I'm a 63-year-old male, and the rest of my blood test results were fine, including normal liver enzyme levels. I had a high Ferritin level two years ago and was advised to donate blood, which I did, and the level went down. I'm not sure what the level was at that time, but I'm wondering how dangerous the current level of 639 is.

My daughter has Hashimoto's thyroid and pernicious anemia, and is being treated with B12 and supplements. She has uncontrollable anxiety, OCD, and hand-washing to the point of cracking.
