I have a trigeminal neuroma measuring 1.8×1.9×1.5 cm, with symptoms of occasional needle-like sensations, numbness, and pain in the left face. MRI shows the tumor is close to the left side of the brain stem and in the left hippocampal gyrus, possibly a trigeminal schwannoma. The doctor recommended inpatient surgery. When is the best time for the operation? Should it be done as soon as possible, or is it possible to observe the tumor until it grows to a certain extent?
