I have an inflamed tongue with difficulty swallowing and constant salivation. I took 50 mg of diphenhydramine HCL two hours ago but there has been no perceived change in my condition. I am a 70-year-old male with a history of diabetes and high blood pressure. This is not the first time I've experienced this issue, but it has not been a repeating problem. There is no personal or family history of anaphylaxis or acute allergic reactions. The swelling started without any specific trigger from exotic food or drugs, and there are no hives or body itching. I can breathe, but the swollen tongue is making it difficult to keep up with the saliva, and I cannot speak intelligibly. What should I do?
