I have been experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, joint and muscle pain, sore throat, and dry mouth since July 25. I was initially diagnosed with a virus and treated with antibiotics, but my symptoms have persisted for 8 months. My blood tests show positive antibodies for Epstein-Barr virus, Chlamydia, and CMV, but no active infections. I am concerned about the long-term effects and whether there is a possibility of cancer or autoimmune disease. What should I do to recover, and are there any vaccines or treatments on the horizon?

I have a thin soft bump on the front of my kneecap that feels like a thin vein or a ligament. I felt it happen as I was rising out of a seated position on the floor yesterday. I have taken Aleve for it. Have you seen a doctor about the bump? Is there anything else in your medical history that the doctor should know?

My daughter has constant constipation with vomiting and abdominal pain, and imaging shows her spleen and liver are slightly enlarged. She is 16 years old, 5'10" tall, and weighs about 175lbs. All labs are normal, and the diagnosis is cyclical vomiting syndrome. The pain in her liver is on and off, and there's nothing specific that makes her feel better or worse. She has been dealing with vomiting since the beginning of the year. Family history includes constipation on my mother's side and I have diverticulitis in remission. What should we do next?

I recently recovered from a cold involving my nose and chest, but after flying, my ears started crackling and popping whenever I blow my nose. My nose still has discharge, and the popping in my ears is painful. I'm concerned about taking the prescribed steroid and antibiotic due to potential side effects, especially as I have a family vacation coming up. What do you think is going on, and should I take the medications now or wait a few days?

I got a bad cold from a coworker about 2 weeks ago. Instead of the usual routine of blowing to lose the mucous, I was coughing it up, which increased to throwing up over a 4-6 day period. Now for the past week, whenever I cough to bring up the mucous, there's a pain or pressure in the middle of my rib cage. The pain also occurs if I attempt to laugh or rise after laying down. How long have you had the pain? Have you used any medication for it? Have you seen a doctor about the pain? Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
