I have shingles and have been taking antiviral medication and Gabapentin 300mg tid with Motrin or Tramadol for three weeks. The shingles outbreak occurred on my left side, causing back pain, but now the back pain is gone, and my abdomen is swelling to the size of a grapefruit under my rib cage on the left side. The swelling feels like fluid inside a large mass and is extremely painful and uncomfortable. I saw a doctor who ordered an ultrasound. What could be causing this swelling, and is it related to shingles or the medications I'm taking?
