I have soreness and inflammation in the solar plexus region. How long have you had this for? Is the pain dull aching or sharp? Any relation with intake of food? Bloating, dyspepsia? Any changes in bowel habits? Previous medical illnesses or any medications that you are using? Does the pain aggravate on movement? Is it to the upper left or right of the abdomen or is it right there in the center? Heartburn? Do you smoke? Is the pain more obvious in the night or during the day?

I want to quit laxative abuse due to stress and depression, but I'm scared my bowels won't move on their own after 2.5 years of using them (dulcolax, 2-3 times per week, 7 tablets at a time). I'm lactose intolerant, sensitive to many foods, and love fruit but it doesn't agree with my stomach. I've been told I might have IBS. What should I get checked for, and how long does it take to recover from laxative abuse? Will I go regularly again after stopping, or will it take months?
