I jump awake at night due to heart palpitations. I do not drink or take any form of drugs. I never experienced this before until I came off of birth control pills. What could be causing these palpitations and what can I do about it?

I have an off and on sharp pain in my ovary, some spotting, and just started back on birth control. I am 44 years old and worried. What could be causing these symptoms and should I be concerned about ovarian cancer?

I've been feeling uneasy and nervous for the last 2-3 days. On the 15th of this month (a day before my expected period), my discharge looked very questionable. It’s consistency was off and didn’t match my usual yeast-like discharge before every period. On the 16th, my period was expected to be due. I had the cramps and backache, so I was sure it was to be coming. In the afternoon, I had some of the usual light brown blood/discharge on the supposed first day, but that was it. No further period blood came. When going to the bathroom throughout the day, I believe I had what was some of the discharge (it looked a little brown/red). Again, no further blood. This hasn’t happened to me before and I am starting to become very nervous and self-conscious as this could be a sign of something else? Will my period come throughout the day? If it may help, on the 4th of this month, my partner and I had protected sex. And I do regularly take and use my birth control. I write this message for self-assurance and some guidance to ease my nerves and thoughts. Any response would be appreciated. Thank you.
