My partner is 45 and has never had any follow-up medically after an incident where his mother tried to kill him and his brother by giving them prescription medications and heroin when he was 3 years old. Recently, he has shown episodes of fits of rage, needs instructions/direction on a daily basis, sleeps for up to 4-5 days solid, and exhibits sleepwalking/talking behaviors during which he can be violent. He also says he doesn't remember these violent acts and physically can't wake up. What can happen long-term from the overdose when he was 3, and would the family history of mental illness play a role in his thought process and behavior?
