My wife, Katherine L Ressel, had surgery on 12/5/1918 to remove a malignant spot from her left upper lung lobe. She experienced pain from a drainage tube and later from her lower rib cage into her chest, which has persisted and worsened over time. Various doctors have suggested it might be a hernia, tight muscle, or scar tissue from the operation, but no treatment has resolved the pain. She also has sarcoidosis and atrial fibrillation. What could be causing this ongoing pain, and what steps should we take to address it?
