Since February 6, 2012, I have experienced excruciating pain intermittently. The pain occurs just below my navel after exercise (other than walking) or after sitting at work for more than 4 hours. A day or two later, I also experience pain in the center and right portion of my groin, a sore right testicle, and pain in the crease between my right testicle and right leg. The left side of my groin and left testicle do not display any pain. Bed rest and cold packs for 4-5 days alleviate the pain, but it flares up again when I return to work. I have two jobs, one an office job and the other teaching at a gym, but I haven't been able to do either for the past month and a half due to the pain. The pain is less bearable only if I lay down or stand up. My doctor performed a CT scan without contrast, which showed a herniated disc (L5/S1) and small kidney stones, but these were not thought to be causing the pain. An MRI of my back confirmed the herniated disc, but my doctor doesn't believe it could be causing my abdominal and groin pain. I haven't had any back pain. An ultrasound showed an enlarged prostate, but I haven't had any major issues with urination, except for occasional burning. Ejaculation is painful. A second CT scan with contrast showed a benign cyst on my kidney and a bone spur on my pelvis. My doctor has ordered an MRI of my pelvis and abdomen and made appointments with a urologist and gastroenterologist. Gallbladder, aorta, and appendix all appear fine on MRI, CT scans, and ultrasound. My doctor put me on antibiotics for acute prostatitis, but that did not help, and urine tests have not shown any sign of infection. I am considering interstitial cystitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome (chronic prostatitis) or a sports hernia, but I am unsure, and my doctor doesn't know what is wrong with me. Any suggestions?

I'm still having issues from an ant sting/bite that happened last night. The bite is on my backside, small but painful, and the red area is no larger than a quarter. This is the third bite I've gotten from these ants, which we've been having a problem with in our house since it turned cold. The ants are small and brown, and I've been able to pinch them off me each time I've been bitten. What should I do about the bite and the ant problem?

My sister in India has hypothyroidism and is gaining weight. Her recent thyroid test results are: Total Triodothyroninie (T3) = 0.60 ng/ml, Total Thyroxine (T4) = 42.2 ng/ml, TSH = 16.17 uIU/ml. She was prescribed 100 mcg of Thyronorm tablets, but experienced stomach pain and other issues. We believe 25 mcg is the right dose. Can you suggest the right dose?

I recently had a mass and half my thyroid removed and was put on a prescription of 125 mg of synthroid once a day. I started the drug and have had 45 days of taking it daily in the early morning before eating. I began to experience itchy skin, which escalated to horrific swelling and a hive-like rash that itches mercilessly. The rash and itch leave by evening. I also have had massive weight gain and swelling in my fingers. What should I do, as getting into a doctor is very difficult due to living in a semi-isolated area and being 76 years old?

Had a fall rescuing my dog from an attack 2 days ago, resulting in very bad bruising on my left shin, which is a bit sore to walk on. I am an 80-year-old female in good health, with no broken skin. I have used an ice pack and taken Panadol. How should I manage the bruising and is it okay to walk on it?
