I recently had a scope from an ENT who spotted enlarged adenoids that are bluish to purple in color over about 25%. The ENT stated it doesn't look like healthy tissue and plans to biopsy it. I have a second appointment for a second opinion with another ENT. I've had ear, eustachian tube, and left-sided throat pain that responded to initial and two refills of Amoxicillin 875 mg b.i.d. about two months ago. Now, there's some pain again in the adenoid region and minor pain in the eustachian tube. The pain seems to come and go and feels like a burning sensation at times. What are the chances of adenoiditis vs. adenoid carcinoma, or possibly just an infection?
