I had my thyroid gland removed and 4 days later, I still have a high-pitched, almost cartoon-like voice. Has anyone experienced serious voice problems post-op and if so, did they improve, and how much over what amount of time?

My husband has lost nearly 3 stone in 3 months, not diet related. He has a worsening cough for 6 months with excessive catarrh running down his throat, causing choking and continuous coughing, but not at night when lying down. He also urinates more frequently at night. He was diagnosed with asbestos pleural plaques in both lungs 4 years ago, and recent tests show no progression of pathology in the lungs. He has signs of extreme allergy in his nasal tissues and a benign goitre with normal thyroid hormones. Despite eating as much as he can, his weight keeps dropping off, and bread gives him diarrhea. Can coeliac disease or cancer cause these symptoms?
