I am 32 years old with two healthy children and a history of two miscarriages. I have hypothyroidism and one copy of the MTHFR mutation. I took synthroid, prenatal vitamins, Metanx, and baby aspirin during my pregnancies, which went well. We are considering having a third child, but I am concerned about taking Metanx again due to the high folic acid content, which I've read can potentially cause cancer. My OBGYN recommends Metanx, but I've read that only one copy of the MTHFR doesn't necessarily warrant treatment. Should I continue taking Metanx, and when should I start taking it if we decide to try for a third child?
