I am 45 years old and have been experiencing prolonged and irregular bleeding since May 16th. My period started with heavy flow, then light, and lasted for three days, but then started again on May 27th and has continued with varying heaviness. I have fatigue but no other symptoms. I went to the ER, where an ultrasound showed a thick endometrial lining, and my blood work was normal. I was given transexamic acid, which didn't work, and then Provera for ten days, which stopped the bleeding. I am concerned about the cause of this prolonged bleeding and whether it will start again after I stop taking Provera. What could be the causes, and what further tests or treatments might be necessary?
