I am 51 and have been in perimenopause. I had not had a period in 6 months, but now I've had two periods in the last two months, each lasting two weeks with a two-week hiatus in between. I also experienced a urinary tract infection and random bleeding episodes. Is this normal, and what should I do about the excessive bleeding and severe cramping?

I had unprotected sex several times after my last period on February 26th, and I've been experiencing pregnancy symptoms. My period is irregular, and it's now May 2nd. I started thyroid medication a couple of months ago, and since then, my periods have been regular. However, my period is now a week late, and I started spotting this morning. I am not using any contraceptives and we are trying to get pregnant. My last period started on July 3. I have never had a Pap test, and there is no swelling, discoloration, or unusual smells. Before starting synthroid, my periods were irregular. I took a cheap pregnancy test five days after my missed period, which showed a faint line, but another test the next day showed nothing. What could be causing this delay, and what should I do next?
