I am bleeding from my vagina and my period was supposed to end last week. I have been taking ortho tri cyclen birth control pills orally since I was 17. I switched to a pill that's safer for smokers in July-Aug, then I got pregnant and had an abortion in January. I then went back on the ortho tri cyclen orally. My period started 3-4 days after I stopped taking the pill (taking placebo pills) and I am continuing to bleed, it's been longer than a week and it's a lot of blood. I am very worried. I also smoke cigarettes and marijuana.

I believe I have abnormal periods and have been experiencing pelvic pain and bone pain. The pelvic pain is sharp and stabbing, occurring only when I start my period, which is once a month for about a week or two. I am 20 years old with no significant medical history and not currently on any medications. What could be causing this and what should I do?

I went to see my gynecologist because I have occasional but severe insomnia. I'm perimenopausal and was hoping my doctor would prescribe a sleep aid, like Lunesta. She told me I need to see my PCP for that. She wanted to prescribe a mild anti-depressant which I declined. And she also prescribed a low dose contraceptive and told me it would make me feel better. I wasn't feeling bad to begin with, I was just suffering with insomnia. I started the contraceptive as she instructed, and each time I took it, I was awakened during the night with Hot Flashes. I wasn't having hot flashes prior to taking the prescription. Is the contraceptives causing the Hot Flashes? Should I continue taking the contraceptive (I've had a tubal ligation) or is it ok to stop? I didn't take it last night and I didn't have Hot Flashes.

I was diagnosed with a threatened or possible ongoing miscarriage at 6 weeks 5 days pregnant. I started having horrible cramps and began to bleed heavily on May 28th. The bleeding has continued for 5 days, but has been light the past two days. I had blood clots, including one very large one, which I've never experienced before on my periods. I'm 25 years old, extremely healthy, and have donated my eggs three times in the past two years. I'm trying to confirm if this is indeed an ongoing miscarriage. Are you able to provide any insights or advice?
