I recently had an ultrasound due to menorrhagia and bleeding between periods, which showed hypervascularity in the myometrium with asymmetrical thickness of 22mm, raising concerns for malignancy. I was sent for a pelvic MRI and endometrial biopsy. Can adenomyosis resemble malignancy, and is adenomyosis typically hypervascular? My MRI suggests adenomyosis, but my ultrasound suggests malignancy. Do they look alike on MRI, and should I see a GYN oncologist even if my endometrial biopsies are negative?
