A client of mine did a 1031 exchange for rental property. On their tax return in Schedule E, I added a 1031 description on the original property. After that, I do not need to do anything. Any other expenses incurred after this do get depreciated, but now the new property gets the basis from the original property and gets carried forward. Please confirm.
