I received an ESOP distribution in 2009 less federal withholding taxes. Where do I claim this income on my 2009 Tax Return? Is this taxed as normal income, or differently? I think it is the 1099F form, but I never received a 1099F form. I am doing my taxes in TurboTax and when I go to claim this they ask for information in several fields of the 1099F form...which I do not have. Also, I was in transition from California to Virginia at the time I received the payout, in terms of state taxes, how should I claim this? Essentially, what are the advantages/disadvantages of claiming this in VA vs CA? For reference, I moved to VA in October 2009 and received payment while in transit. My total taxable income is at the bottom of the 28% bracket (before deductions), and remains in the 28% bracket when I include this payout.
