As a civilian contractor working in Kuwait for the military, I am unsure if I qualify for Bonafide Residence or tax exempt status. I arrived in Kuwait in November 2010 and plan to go home on leave in October 2011, one month shy of being here for an entire year. I will be home for over 35 days for giving birth. How can I qualify for tax exempt status for 2011, and should I schedule my leave for exactly 35 days?

If I filed a Schedule C last year for a home-based website business that I discontinued for the 2005 tax year, do I need to file any special form for that, or do I just not file a Schedule C?

My wife and I separated in July 2004, and the divorce will be final in July 2005. I am paying the mortgage on a house that my wife now owns and all expenses for our 18-year-old son. She contributes nothing. She wants to file a joint return this year, but I think I would be better off filing on my own. Am I right?
