Do I have to pay NJ-927 tax from 2001/2002 if I am no longer in business, and what are the statute of limitations on this tax?

I have paid income tax but not filed for several years. We filed extensions for the first two years, but now it's time for this year. I want to know what I should do to catch up. We have moved several times and I don't know where my W-2s and related items are. Where do I start? I know I don't owe and would like to get the refund, but the important thing is I don't want to get in hot water (or any deeper) with the IRS. Any suggestions?
