I am divorced with one child and want to cover my taxes but get as much take-home pay as possible. How many allowances can I claim? I am taking the child support credit and pay my spouse $1000/month in child support. My HR person suggested putting in 99 for allowances, but I would owe taxes. I did an online calculator and it came up with 14 allowances, but too much was taken out in taxes according to the worksheet.

How exactly would you outsource additional tax or accounting work if your practice is getting too big? Is it okay to use independent contractors? Can they sign the return under your firm or does it need to be their own? Can you review and sign off on their work and they don't have to be treated as employees? How should they be paid? Can it be a percentage of the return? How can you ensure that the information provided won't be compromised given the current cybersecurity situation?
