I am moving from Washington state to New York for a year. I have a permanent residence in Washington and my employer is based in New York but has operations in multiple states. I was hired as a remote employee based in Washington state. Can I avoid paying New York state income taxes while I am physically in New York, given that I still have a permanent residence in Washington and my payroll is currently assigned to Washington state, which does not have income tax?

I am a British national with permanent and tax residence in South Africa, a 5-year residence card for Portugal, a 10-year Greek non-tax resident card, and a British inheritance. I currently have no fixed address and need advice on where to be tax resident and how to manage my tax affairs across South Africa, Portugal, Greece, and the UK to be legal and financially expedient. I want to maintain residency options in these countries and need clarity on residency and tax status in each, especially regarding my Portuguese tax residency which I believe was incorrectly established.
