I am waiting for my tax refund from 2018, which was filed very late in August 2021. It has been 10 months without any updates. I know it's impossible to get them on the phone, and the 'Where's My Refund' tab at IRS online only goes back to 2019. How can I find out the status of my refund?

The IRS did not accept my tax return because I didn't include my PIN or AGI. I spent hours on the phone and days of frustration trying to get the information I needed. Despite submitting the required information, they didn't accept it and issued me a bill for not filing before April 15th, even though I submitted my initial return on time. I am 83 years old and have never had this kind of problem before. I also saved all my IRS files to my computer, but the government deleted them all, which I believe is an invasion of privacy. What can I do to solve this problem?
