I filed my tax return electronically on April 1st and still haven't received my refund. I am located in Berwick, Maine, I am 68 years old, single, and have no dependents. I filed through AARP. I contacted AARP, and they confirmed that my return was received. What could be causing the delay in my refund?

I received a letter from the IRS stating that a refund check was previously sent but expired because I never cashed it. I never received the check and was told to contact the IRS for a replacement. I have tried calling multiple times but have not been able to speak to a live person. What should I do to get a replacement check?
