I had my taxes filed last year by someone I know who mistakenly received both my stimulus checks. The IRS did a trace but I haven't received a response yet. They referred me to a tax advocate who initially said I could get the money through a rebate this year, but now says I need to sue the person who received the checks. The IRS told me to reach back out to the advocate. How should I proceed legally?
