I have an issue with my taxes for 2017-2021. A former acquaintance used my name to legitimize his business for tax purposes. Now, when I try to file my taxes for these years, the government won't let me because they say I don't have the appropriate information to verify who I am. I need to know if I need to file taxes. I am currently located in Corinth, TX, I am 76 years old, do not have any dependents, and have not filed taxes since 2017. My typical filing status is widow. My sources of income are Social Security, retirement, and widows benefit.
