I have been filing and paying sales tax under a different taxpayer number for my business. I never saw the first taxpayer number that the agent sent me, so I applied for one and got sent one from the state. Is there something I need to do?

I have questions about tax loss carryforwards in M&A transactions. Can a company acquire another company solely for its tax losses to offset its taxable income, and what are the limitations and complications involved?

My wife passed away in February and had life insurance through her employer, which used Prudential. I took the lump sum. Will I have to pay taxes on it? I read that it is not taxable income.

I am relocating from Boston, MA to Austin, TX. I am a remote salary employee with the same company. Will I have to pay a full year of MA income taxes, or will it be pro-rated? If pro-rated, what will trigger the effective date to start in TX? Do I simply have to change my employee HR address, or do I have to do some other TX residency procedure?

I filed an extension with the IRS in April. I am an 86-year-old widow who sold my house in Snellville, GA, and moved to a property in Fannin County, which includes a singlewide trailer that needs extensive repairs. I used the proceeds from the house sale to pay off debts and fund these repairs. I have not filed taxes since 2019. Do I need to file a tax return now?
