I inherited almost 8 million from my dad this year in January, which was put in a trust fund. I receive 3 percent a year, which is 17,600 a month. I live in Ohio, and my dad lived in Florida. My father has developed Alzheimer's during the past year. I have filled out his taxes for 2011, but he thinks he filed a tax return for 2010 but cannot find a copy nor knows any details. How can I find out if he filed a return for 2010 and if not, what is the remedy? What should I do and what might be his penalty? Also, do I sign his taxes for this year or have him sign them?
