I inherited an IRA from my father who passed away in 2012. I have been taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) every year since then. Due to the SECURE Act of 2019, most beneficiaries must empty the account within 10 years of the account owner’s death. However, since I inherited the IRA prior to 2019, I want to know if I am grandfathered in to the stretch rule, which would allow me to continue taking RMDs over my lifetime instead of having to zero out the account within 10 years.
