Am thinking of purchasing a home in the next month. What will that do for my taxes? Benefits? Deductions? Credits?

I'm having difficulty making an appointment with an agent at the Augusta, Maine office regarding a letter I received (letter number LTROO12C). The letter states that I reported a negative amount for taxable Schedule A greater than $3000.00 and that I need to complete a Schedule A. However, I only file a simple 1040-SR and on line 12b - charitable contributions, I have entered the amount of $300.00 using the TurboTax software installed on my computer. There is no sign of the long form Schedule A in my file. I would like to see an IRS agent in person to show them the letter and explain my issue.
