I purchased a property in Indiana and put it in an LLC under both me and my husband. The mortgage is under my name only. I am trying to short sale. If the bank looks at both of our incomes and does not qualify me for the short sale, and we go to foreclosure, will my husband's credit be affected, and can they hold him responsible in any way? If not him, can they come after me if I am not showing enough income?

I received company stock as a certificate for a years-of-service award, but it was not reflected on my W-2. What do I use for the cost basis when I sell this stock in the future, and what portion, if any, is ordinary income?

What is the difference between claiming Married and Married but withholding at the higher rate on a W-4 form, and is it better to increase the number of exemptions on a W-4 and increase contributions to a 401(k) to balance the tax burden?

Will the IRS be lenient to a taxpayer under 59 1/2 who unintentionally rolled IRA money to a checking account and then wrote a check to a new IRA custodian, forgetting about the under 59 1/2 rule? The taxpayer received a 1099-R from the original custodian, indicating an early distribution. What is the best estimate as to how the IRS will proceed?

I closed 2 IRAs in 2015. The first was no problem and was accepted by my broker. The second IRA check was refused, and I was told to cash it and take out the RMD for the now one IRA. I received a 1099-R form that combines both IRAs into one amount, with a distribution code of 7. The taxable amount is the total of the transferred IRA and the cashed IRA. How do I report this, and do I have an RMD for the IRA I cashed out?
