I used a tax professional who made a mistake, causing me to pay an amount I didn't owe. I mailed the check, but later realized the mistake. The tax professional said the IRS would correct it, but nothing has happened. I cannot find a number to call for help. I need to know how to talk to a live person at the IRS, how to file a 1040X, and how to find out if the IRS caught the tax professional's mistake. I have received no communication from the IRS.

Me and my sister filed our taxes before our mother, even though we claimed dependent. It will not let her file hers now as it says we have filed as independent. We both have already received our refunds. Is there any way for us to be able to 'unfile' our taxes, allow her to claim us, then refile?

I used TurboTax Premier software to prepare my tax return. There is a $6181 tax on Line 6, which I don't believe applies to me as all my distributions from IRAs are minimum amounts. My income is mainly from a government pension and $18000 in interest from cashing in savings bonds. What could be causing this tax, and how can I resolve it?

My family and I want to open a bank account for my brother who was in a terrible fire. We have been fundraising for him and will have a benefit for him in a few months. What type of bank account should we open for expenses, donations, donations via his webpage, and from the media sharing his story and our need for help with donations? Also, will the people on the account have their social security numbers be taxed on this or just the account name with the EIN number?

Is there a cap each person can contribute to a single HSA account under a family HDHP plan, and how does this apply to my situation where my wife and I have separate HSA accounts but are under her family HDHP coverage?

If two people were working and one payor gave the first individual the money for both parties, deposited it in his checking account, and then paid the other person his portion via checks from his account, and the payor gave the first person a 1099 for the entire amount for both parties, how do you separate funds legally with the IRS using a 1099 or other form?
