I've been living with a partner for 17 years in a common law relationship in Louisiana. Am I eligible for his social security benefits if he is deceased?

My brother died intestate and as his next of kin, I inherited a little over $12000, mostly from his social security checks. What am I responsible for in terms of my tax obligation?

I need to find out if the IRS is going to release my taxes. It shows in progress and I wonder if there’s a problem. I’m 82 years old, have been receiving social security, worked until I was 80, and currently receive a small pension of $88.

I received a refund check from my deceased wife's trust account. The check was endorsed to my checking account, but the bank would not accept it since it was made out to the trust. I tried to deposit it into my trust account, but they also refused it due to the endorsement. I tried to get another check issued and received a letter from the IRS stating I should enclose the letter in a special envelope, but no envelope was provided. My EIN number is *****. How should I proceed with returning the check to the IRS?

I am a US citizen living in the Czech Republic with my wife, a Danish citizen. We have assets over $1M in stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, etc., and a joint bank account in a US bank. I am concerned about the estate taxes my non-citizen, non-resident wife would incur upon my death. There is a $60k exemption on estate taxes for her, but I think she would have to pay up to 39% on the entire amount. However, I read that if our money was in a joint checking account in a US bank, that amount would be exempt from the tax. Is that correct?

Hello, I just started a new business and am using ADP to pay myself and one employee. Do I still need to set aside money for taxes?
