If a woman starts her social security payments at age 62 and her ex-husband, who is not remarried, dies, can she stop her social security payments and take his since his are bigger? Additionally, how does her age at the time of switching to his benefits affect the percentage she receives, and how does working while receiving social security affect the benefits?

I have a voluntary tax deduction being made, and I want to stop it. I am 84 years old, have no dependents, and made approximately $17,326.80 this year. The deduction is something I no longer need.

I did not file a tax return last year but did file for an extension. However, I did not follow up. My husband and I are only on social security. What do I do at this point?

I am still working and would like to apply for my social security. I will be 66 in October and want to know the soonest I can apply and if I need proof of anything to apply. Additionally, I want to know if I keep working, am I penalized or can I earn my full salary and my SS with no problem?

In 2008, I bought an insurance policy for death benefits. In 2018, I found that I had paid approximately $8500 in premiums. Then found out that if I should die, my estate would receive approximately $1500 but this figure would increase to 4500 if I should reach 100 years of age. So in 2018, I converted this into a paid up policy worth $1435. So in effect I lost over $7000 to date. Is there any way to claim a loss like this on Revenue Canada taxes? How do I recoup any portion of the $8500 - 1500?
